Yuma man receives over 100 years in prison

A Yuma man was sentenced to over 100 years in prison Wednesday after he was found guilty for creating and possessing child pornography.

Twenty-nine-year-old Levi Madrigal was convicted on February 5 by jurors and was charged with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

On Wednesday, a Yuma judge sentenced Madrigal to 10 years for each of the 14 counts making the sentence to 140 years.

Madrigal previously turned down a plea of agreement with prosecutors in May 2018 where he would be sentenced to five years in prison and would have to register as a sex offender.

According to the Yuma Police Department, Madrigal had a felony warrant for his arrest and was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on December 8, 2018, in Converse County, Wyo.

Madrigal was sent back to Yuma on December 24, 2018, and booked into Yuma County Jail.
