YPD: Shots fired in Yuma neighborhood

The Yuma Police Department responded to shots fired around 10:15 p.m. Monday night.

Officers were on scene investigating in a neighborhood located near 11th Avenue and 21st Street.

Witnesses who live nearby claimed they heard about five gunshots.

“[I] feel a little insecure. I know a lady who lives here in the building that has two children, two small. If they got hurt, I would be very upset,” said Timothy Wright, a witness.

YPD said they have received seven calls of possible shots fired within the last seven days, but only three were actual shootings.

If you think there is somebody shooting call us. If you think there is someone out there shooting, let us investigate. Sometimes it may look like, yes, we have a lot of calls reference that, but it doesn’t turn out there’s always that many case reports because sometimes it is other things,” explained Sergeant Lori Franklin, YPD.

There were no reported injuries and there are no suspects, according to YPD.
