POLL: Joe Biden leads Trump by five points in Arizona
A new poll released early Tuesday shows former Vice President Joe Biden leading President Trump by 5 points in Arizona.
The poll comes from the OH Predictive Insights. The poll found 49 percent support Biden compared to 44 percent for Trump. Seven percent remain undecided.
If this becomes a reality, Trump could be the first Republican to lose the state since Bob Dole lost to Bill Clinton in 1996.
“The Biden bump we have seen in other states carried over to Arizona. Fifteen months before the Arizona primary, Biden is the Democratic candidate best positioned to take on the president,” said Mike Noble, chief of research and managing partner of OH Predictive Insights . “If Democrats put electability above all else, Biden could run away with the nomination and the White House.”
Other Democratic presidential candidates in the poll include Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who came in second to Biden with 42 percent, but did not receive enough support to surpass Trump’s 47 percent.
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke polled at 40 percent compared to Trump’s 46 percent. California Senator Kamala Harris placed behind O’Rourke with 39 percent support.
The poll of 600 likely Arizona general election voters, conducted May 1-2, has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
