Drive-by shooting reported in El Centro

A drive-by shooting has been reported in the area of Imperial Avenue and Commercial Avenue Tuesday, according to the El Centro Police Department.

Police said the incident has been classified as a drive-by shooting/attempted homicide and no physical injuries to people involved have been reported. A vehicle appears to be the only thing damaged by gunfire in this incident.

The suspect vehicle is a 2016 or newer Nissan Altima and possibly dark gray in color. One of the occupants was described as a Hispanic man, thin build, in his 20s, and another heavy-set Hispanic man, El Centro police said. Authorities are considering the vehicle and occupants armed and dangerous.

The lockdown placed on Lincoln Elementary School has been lifted.
