Man involved in shooting Friday remains in critical condition

According to the Yuma Police Department, the man shot during the incident reported on Friday at the 1100 block of South Avenue A was found to be the suspect in the case.

Police also corrected the suspect’s age to 23-years-old.

No charges have been found at this time as the suspect is in critical condition in the hospital.

Yuma police responded to reports of a shooting near the area of Avenue A between 10th Street and 14th Street Friday afternoon. Police confirmed a 23-year-old man was shot and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The incident caused OC Johnson Elementary School to be placed under lockdown for ten minutes.
