Yuma BP: Agent assaulted by illegal Honduran

A Yuma Sector Border Patrol agent was assaulted by an illegal immigrant from Honduras on Sunday, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

CBP said three subjects entered the country illegally near Andrade, California. Agents took one of the illegal immigrants into custody without incident but one 18-year-old Honduran punched an agent multiple times and attempted to evade arrest by fleeing, according to authorities.

After searching the area, agents were able to place the 18-year-old into custody. The third illegal immigrant escaped back to Mexico.

The agent did not require medical attention, according to CBP.
