Lane Reductions in Calexico to begin Monday
Lane reductions on State Route 98 between Meloland Road and Rivera Avenue in Calexico will be in place for five days beginning Monday at 12:01 a.m. through Friday at 7:00 p.m. for pavement work.
Eastbound SR-98 will be reduced to one lane until crews move to the westbound side, and then westbound SR-98 will be reduced to one lane.
Heavy trucks will be detoured to Cole Road. Crews will close Bowker Road at the SR-98 intersection during construction hours and traffic will be detoured onto Andrade Ave.
Sidewalks will remain open during construction. However, no vehicle or pedestrian cross traffic will be allowed during the closure period.
Crews will close the intersection along SR-98 at C.N. Perry Ave., Avenida de Oro, and Rancho Frontera Ave., for one day on Monday, April 22. The intersection at SR-98 and C.N. Perry Ave., Heber Ave., Blair Ave., and Encinas Ave., will be closed Tuesday, April 23.
Vehicle access will be provided on Rockwood Avenue and Andrade Avenue during the intersection closures. Sidewalks will remain open; however, vehicle and pedestrian cross traffic will only be allowed at designated cross over locations at Rockwood Avenue and Andrade Avenue.
Signage will be posted alerting motorists of the work and associated detours. Traffic flow is expected to slow through the construction zone and motorists are urged to plan their commutes accordingly.
