YPD to address overdoses at City of Yuma forum

Drugs are pouring into the community and the Yuma Police Department explained that they are landing in the hands of local youth.

The City of Yuma is hosting a forum to inform parents on what to watch out for at City Hall Tuesday night.

There have been more than 30 overdoses in the city of Yuma since November, according to Corporal Eric Resindez, with the Yuma Police Department.

The drugs have ranged from the M-30 pill that is laced with fentanyl to THC wax, according to Cpl. Resindez. He added six involved minors.

Cpl. Resindez will be leading the forum the city of Yuma is now hosting to educate the community on the dangers of opioids and drugs within our community.

Officers are seeing a new trend that involves vape pens with marijuana laced with other dangerous drugs.

“Most recently there was a kid who thought they were smoking a marijuana vape pen that was laced with some other drug. That we assume, we don’t ever want to assume anything, but we assume it was laced with fentanyl or some other drug. The kid had an overdose and that happened at Yuma High School,” Cpl. Resindez, YPD.

Cpl Resendiz said there will be a short question and answer portion at the end of the forum.
