High- security Federal presence in Mexicali for President Trump’s visit

A busy day in Mexicali for Mexican authorities during President Donald Trump’s visit to the Calexico border as more than 100 local, state and federal officers closed off the main street leading to the port of entry.

One long-time resident of 40 years waited outside of his house until Trump arrived, he also added he has never seen this much federal security in all his time living in Mexicali.

“This was definitely over the top, I mean there’s always been a lot of car movement but never this much Federal security,” Jorge Mejia, a local resident.

Mejia said growing up he has always witnessed people crossing into the United States and during his 40 years, this has been the third border fence he’s seen implemented.

“I’ve seen women trying to climb this fence and fall to the ground with their children, that has to be the hardest thing I’ve seen,” said Mejia.
