Video shows journey asylum seekers take to enter US
Desperate attempts of migrants entering the United States by dangerous means were caught on camera by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) three months before CBP and Yuma Mayor Doug Nicholls announced they would be released into the Yuma community.
Video released to News 11 by CBP painted a picture of two instances of migrants crawling through the Sanchez Canal, a few miles west of the San Luis Port of Entry.
The first apprehension took place on December 18.
Border Patrol agents are heard yelling, “Be careful with the child.” in Spanish, while a man is crawling through razor wire with a child in his arms.
The second apprehension happened on December 22 in the same area. The video shows the border crossers crossing through 55-degree water.
You can hear Border Patrol agents who are filming shout in Spanish, “Go back. Don’t do this. Look at the child! Hey! Be careful with the child! Be careful with the child!”
