Border Patrol arrest woman suspected of human smuggling

A woman, suspected of smuggling two illegal immigrants, was arrested by Border Patrol agents at the Indio Station Thursday afternoon.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said at about 6:12 p.m., agents conducted a vehicle stop on a black Ford Expedition, driven by a 29-year-old woman.

Records check indicated that the woman, later identified as Diana Radkova Dragneva, is a Bulgarian national with an expired visa. Authorities discovered the two men attempted to conceal themselves in the rear seat of the Ford. It was determined that the men were Mexican nationals, which were illegally present in the United States.

Dragneva and the two men were taken into custody and transported to the Highway 111 checkpoint for further investigation.

Dragneva is being held in federal custody awaiting further criminal prosecution.
