Man gets 96-year prison term for molesting girls

A former Arizona resident has been sentenced to 96 years in prison for molesting at least four young girls over a 15-year period.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 71-year-old Dennis Pitman was sentenced Monday after being convicted on 17 counts child molesting and five counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Pitman was accused of molesting girls between the ages of 5 and 12 beginning in the early 1990s.

A victim told county investigators in 2013 that she was molested multiple times by Pitman while growing up and he had molested other girls.

Investigators located three other women who also claimed they were molested and sexually abused by Pitman over several years.

Pitman was investigated by Mesa police and extradited to Arizona from North Dakota two years ago to face charges.
