School bus involved in accident from Palmcroft Elementary

UPDATE: (12:26 p.m.)

The Yuma Police Department has released new information on the incident involving a school bus on Tuesday morning.

YPD said students on the bus were from Palmcroft Elementary School. There were 39 of them on the bus at the time of the collision.

At around 8:12 a.m., a 2007 red Ford Edge pulled out in front of the school bus that was traveling northbound in the 3300 b lock of S. Avenue 3E, collided with the bus, and then later collided with a 2015 Ford F150.

YPD said three of the students on the bus reported minor injuries and two students were transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Authorities added that impairment was not a factor in the incident.

“Just in reference to the traffic violation, impairment does not appear to be a factor at this point. Right now, it was a traffic collision,” said Sgt. Lori Franklin with YPD.

One minor injury was reported from the Ford Edge.

The rest of the students were taken back to the school and the roadway was closed while traffic investigators cleared up the scene.
