Barricade situation in Yuma

One man has been taken into custody after barricading himself inside a trailer.

Yuma Police identified the man as 33-year-old Alejandro Cunningham.

YPD said a court order violation sparked the entire situation near 8th Street and G. Bell Avenue.

They said Cunningham then made threats leading them to call in the special enforcement team.

“We believe there was possibly weapons involved. He barricaded himself into a trailer. We did our procedure. We did a SET call out, special enforcement team call out. We tried making contact via cell phone, via intercom,” explained Sgt. Lori Franklin, YPD.

When officers could not get Cunningham out of the home peacefully, they set off a flash bang .

Police ultimately used gas to get Cunningham out of the mobile home.

Cunningham was arrested on three felony charges and seven misdemeanor charges, including aggravated harassment.
