The Yuma Regional Medical Center receives first Cuddle Cot

The Yuma Regional Medical Center received a generous donation from a twenty-year long volunteer, a device that helps families mourn the loss of their newborn.

It was an emotional day at the Y-R-M-C that started with a blessing from nurses and one grandmother that lost her first granddaughter in Washington. Gerberding’s daughter-in-law was induced and lost her baby at 35 weeks.

With the Cuddle Cot at the hospital, the family was able to spend more days said goodbye to the little girl they had only just met.

“When my son was telling me about the experience he was like “Grandma I was able to spend more time and protect my little girl throughout the night before saying bye,” said Gerberding.

The cuddle cot helps preserve the body of a newborn for up to several hours and the hospital is thankful for the donation because each cuddle cot cost is valued at more than two thousand dollars.
