New state bill would require schools to report serious threats

A new state bill is making its way through the court process, and is looking to tackle the issue of school threats.

House Bill 2119 would require school administrators to contact police and parents if the school receives a threat.

It would also require the school board to enforce the procedures or face fines.

The bill was brought to Senator Nancy Barto, who presented HB 2119 to the Public Safety Committee.

HB2119 passed the Public Safety Committee and is headed to the House floor for review.
