Shooting suspect requests settlement conference

The man suspected of shooting his wife in the back of the head requested a settlement conference in a Yuma courtroom on Tuesday.

Attorney Michael Donovan, who represents 40-year-old Mark Antonio Villicana, requested the conference.

Prosecuting attorneys didn’t object to the request. Kinsey ordered a new judge to conduct the settlement.

Villicana was arrested on September 12, 2018 , after admitting to shooting his wife, according to Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the 10100 B lock of S. Typhoon Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. and discovered Villicana’s wife in the garage with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Mark Antonio Villicana is charged with premeditated first-degree murder tied to domestic violence.
