Jeff Flake says no to presidential run in 2020
With an already crowded field of democratic candidates for the 2020 election, a question left on voters minds: will any Republicans challenge the President for re-election?
Former U.S. Senator Jeff Flake said he hopes so, but he’s not the person for the job.
During Flake’s appearance Tuesday on “CBS This Morning,” Flake confirmed he will not challenge Trump in a Republican primary.
The Arizona politician has been openly critical of the president while serving in the Senate. Flake blasted Trump during his retirement speech in 2017.
Flake also made headlines for blocking a confirmation vote on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh before the FBI could investigate sexual misconduct claims against him.
During Tuesday’s appearance, Flake said it would be “very difficult” for someone to challenge Trump as an independent candidate.
He made no comment if that was something he was considering.
