Local non-profit organization helps the homeless

Crossroads Mission is helping the homeless by partnering with local shops and handing out donuts.

Executive Director Myra Garlit says she knows the kitchen is the core of the organization and partnering with Yuma Donut on Pacific Avenue has helped create a positive impact on the community.

“We can’t talk to somebody about changing their life and about Jesus, if they’re hungry or if their cold and so if we feed them there is just something that happens about that,” said Garlit.

When the organization first thought of the idea they didn’ realize just how successful they would be.

“We started asking some of the bakeries if they would give us their donuts for the homeless and we ended up getting donuts galore,” said Garlit.
