AWC brings electronic scooters to campus

Students at Arizona Western College have a new way to get around campus and help reduce carbon emission footprints.

The community college has partnered with Go X, the very first motorized scooter for higher education.

The fully electronic scooters cost $1 to use and $0.15 per minute of use while riding.

“It is linked to a card, they [students] just pay for it on their phone and then they grab it and go,” said Mandy Heil , Director of Communications at Arizona Western College (AWC).

“They are very cool because they have an app on the phone,” Said Gemesis Beldre , a student at AWC.

Arizona Western College Vice Department for Finance and Administrative Services partnered with CEO of Go X, Alexander Deblov to allow 100 scooters to become available on campus.

The electronic scooters were also implemented to help reduce carbon emission footprints.

By visiting goxapp.com on your Apple iPhone or Google Play device, you can download the app.

The electronic scooters are designed to drive 30 miles on a single charge and capable of reaching 25 miles an hour.

“They were free the first day they brought them, everyone was using it. It also has a safety pin so it doesn’t go too fast,” said Jonathan Contreras, a student at AWC.

Go X has provided two wheeler scooters and a three-wheeler for students carrying backpacks on campus.
