4th annual YFD Open House
Tomorrow from 10:00am until 2pm, the Yuma Fire Department will be holding its 4th Annual Open House at the Public Safety Training Facility in Yuma.
The open house will include displays of fire and rescue vehicles, a-hundred foot aerial ladder climb and equipment displays, all of which will be staffed by YFD personnel. If you were ever curious about what our Fire Department does, this is a great way to get an up-close and personal look. Mike Erfert with the Yuma Fire Department explains some of the other action displays that will be present at the event.
“What goes into dealing with vehicle excrication, use of the hydraulic tools that cut vehicles apart. Even vehicle fires and structure fires; We will have demonstrations with that. It’s an oppotunity for the public to come out and meet their fire department and get an idea of what our capabilities are,” said Mike Erfert, with the Yuma Fire Department.
Demonstrations will begin at approximately 10:30am and continue throughout the event every 30 to 45 minutes. The open house has had a solid turnout for the past few years with a couple hundred people showing up last year. It’s a family friendly event open to all ages and food will be provided for free.
