Until fog clears, YFD advising drivers to stay home if they can

Yuma residents who may be on their morning commute are advised to take their time and drive slowly due to the extreme foggy weather this morning.

The Yuma Fire Department is even asking drivers who don’t need to leave their homes to avoid driving.

Here are some tips to follow when driving in foggy weather:

Slow down. Driving at normal speeds can become extremely dangerous. Avoid using high beam headlights. Stay focused on the road and leave space in between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you in case of any sudden stops. Turn off cruise control Use windshield wipers and defrosters Roll down your window Use the right edge of the road as a guide
