Local law enforcement agencies share New Year’s resolutions
As many gather to ring in the New Year, New Year’s resolutions help as an opportunity to set new goals. Those who protect and serve our community are sharing their goals for 2019 and what they expect to uphold as an agency.
“We want our community to be safe, we ask for patience to slow down and enjoy life a little bit more. We rush life but we have to remember that only we can make the community better and make this a better place,” said Lori Franklin with Yuma Police Department (YPD).
Franklin takes us down memory lane with what she said was a successful year for YPD.
“We made it through the year without any of our officers getting seriously hurt or injured and we also didn’t lose our officers during the line of duty,” said Franklin.
The San Luis Police Department said they plan on implementing more education programs in the New Year.
“We want to continue educating the community on what to look for pertaining on things like the fentanyl crisis and other issues facing our community,” said Marco Santana with the San Luis Police Department.
All law enforcement agencies would like to remind the community to ring in the New Year safely and to not use firearms at the stroke of midnight because it is a felony offense.
