Vehicle collision under investigation by YCSO

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department responded to a vehicle collision on County 19 th Street and Avenue G ½ at around 7:03 a.m. Tuesday morning.

SCFD found a white Chevrolet Traverse on the south side shoulder of County 19 th and a black GMC SUV, one-eighth of a mile west of the white Chevy Traverse.

SCFD said the Traverse was traveling eastbound and the GMC was traveling westbound when for unknown reasons one of the vehicles crossed the center line and collided with the other, knocking the front driver’s side wheel of the GMC completely off.

The driver of the white Traverse, a female, was driving alone while the female driver of the GMC had four other occupants.

The woman driving the Traverse complained of pain to her head and was treated and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

SCFD said all of the occupants of the GMC stated that they were not injured and after being examined by Paramedics on the scene refused treatment and transport.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident.
