Crossroads Mission faces challenges during holiday season
With the holiday season in full swing and low temperatures at night, Crossroads Mission is doing everything they can to lend a helping hand to the homeless in our community.
With the influx of families at the shelters and the shortage of donations, the mission is asking for the community’s help.
“You will not be turned away, we will make sure that everything is taken care of the families and children,” said Barbara Rochester, Public Information Officer at Crossroads Mission.
The mission’s family shelter holds about 100 families and the majority that are currently housed are children. Among those at the shelter is Patricia Loita, who struggled with meth addiction for 11 years.
“There were times where I didn’t think I would make it, but this place helped me overcome those difficult moments,” said Loita.
She said that her faith is what kept her going through the toughest moments in her life.
“God helped me get to this point and so my family at Crossroads,” said Loita.
Loita has been clean for five months now and now works with the mission to better the lives of those in need.
