Fight breaks out in Kress parking lot, leads to one arrest
A fight between several people left one local Marine behind bars and multiple injured.
“They came up behind me and my brother, saying, excuse my language but f-ing white boys, f-ing white boys. My brother turned around and ended up getting hit right there. I took my flannel off and after that, I don’t remember anything until I was being flown to Phoenix,” said Jacob, the man injured in the fight.
Jacob claimed he and his brother were attacked while leaving the Kress Ultra Lounge’s back parking lot just after 2 a.m. Sunday.
He said he now has a broken bone, a black eye, and major swelling of soft tissue inside the head.
The suspects were narrowed down, and as of Tuesday at 12:15 p.m., detectives arrested Michael Baldwin with two felony charges of aggravated assault and one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
Baldwin is a U.S. Marine, according to YPD.
KYMA reached out to Baldwin’s girlfriend who has declined to comment until the investigation is closed.
According to Sergeant Lori Franklin with the Yuma Police Department, the fight grew from a small to a rather large fight.
Sgt. Franklin said a couple victims were taken to the hospital and one victim was flown to a Phoenix hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Sgt. Franklin added that several videos are circling around of the fight which helped determine the victims and the suspects. Baldwin was only one of two suspects and police believe another unidentified suspect has not been located.
Jacob and his wife are now asking for justice.
“We want the people who did this to pay for what they did,” said Jacob.
