Border Patrol arrest two felons who tried to enter U.S. illegally
Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two felons that allegedly entered the United States illegally over the weekend.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the first felon was found with another individual at about 6:35 a.m. on Saturday, 17 miles east of San Luis. Authorities said the pair had illegally entered the United States and had tried to evade detection but were arrested.
Agents processed the individuals and identified one of them as a previously deported 40-year-old Mexican national. He had convictions of aggravated battery and burglary in 2001 in Idaho Falls, ID.
The second felon was found with a group seven illegal immigrants near Andrade, Calif. after illegally entering the country, CBP officials said.
Agents discovered during processing that one of the individuals was a previously deported 47-year-old man of Mexico with an extensive criminal history. The criminal history included a conviction of lewd and lascivious acts with a child in 1995, in Los Angeles, where he said he was attempting to return.
Both felons will be prosecuted for re-entry after deportation.
