Olympic ice hockey medalist hosts youth clinic

Yuma had a special visit from Arizona’s first winter Olympic medalist in ice hockey on Monday night. Lyndsey Fry hosted a free in-line hockey clinic at Kennedy Memorial Park.

Boys and girls of all ages got the chance to work alongside the Olympian. Fry was focused on helping them develop their individual skill.

“We are doing a free, in-line hockey clinic so roller hockey and its been really exciting, a great turnout, lots of kids and i’m just excited to grow the game of hockey in Arizona,” Fry said.

Fry participated in the 2014, Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia where team USA won a silver medal in ice hockey. She later started her own hockey camp business where she trains young hockey players from all over the country. Today, she works with the Arizona Coyotes professional hockey team and has her own all girls league called, “Small Fry.”

The turnout at Monday night’s event was so great that Fry hopes to be back in the desert southwest very soon.
