Home Grown stove top potpourri

In need fo a cute stocking stuffer idea or a holiday gift for a neighbor?

In today’s Home Grown 13 On Your Side teaches you how to make a fun craft that involves using some of our locally grown produce.

Farmer’s wife and owner of Dandy Home and Ranch, Amanda Mellon teaches us how to make a stovetop simmering potpourri, perfect for the holidays.

“It’s mixed with things you would find in the produce section,” Mellon said. “It’s filled with cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and cloves and oranges and it comes with instructions for them. You just slice up the orange and you put all of the ingredients together in a pot on the stove with some water and simmer it on low and it makes your house smell amazing,” she added.

Start with adding two oranges first in the bag. Then add two cinnamon sticks. Next, take a handful of cranberries. Mellon said she likes to add quite a few because they add that pretty color. Then add cloves and then tie it all up and you have a cute little gift to hand out to someone.

It’s a really fun, easy project that is a great gift for teacher gifts, neighbor gifts, friends and family, anyone that you want to bless this year.

“It’s a fun way to make your house smell really great for the holidays,” Mellon said.
