City of Yuma has received requests to annex parts of Mesa del Sol

A possible annexation of a specific area that is under Yuma County’s control could be in the works.

“We’ve had some discussions with far west and we’re looking, assessing that situation to see if there’s a possibility to do something with them,” said Greg Wilkinson, City of Yuma administrator.

Wilkinson said Mesa Del Sol Homeowners Association have been reaching out to the city and one will be speaking to the Yuma City Council on December 15.

An annexation of the area would mean the Mesa Del Sol area would no longer be considered an unincorporated area.

The area would pay City of Yuma taxes, receive services like water from the city and be under Yuma Police and Fire’s jurisdiction.
