Surprise PD: Student tries to attack teacher with knife

A high-school student who attempted to assault a teacher with a knife at the Dysart Learning Center was arrested on Wednesday, according to Surprise Police.

According to S urprise Police, the student was apprehended by on-site private security before he was able to injure anyone.

The investigation indicated that the student did not intend to harm anyone except the teacher who was the sole focus of his aggression, according to SPD.

The student was a part of a therapeutic day placement program for students with individual education plans.

SPD said the suspect was booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Facility on numerous charges that include attempt to commit first-degree murder, aggravated assault, threatening, disrupting an educational institution, and reckless display of a dangerous instrument.
