Former hospital doctor accused of illegal recordings

A former hospital doctor in New Hampshire whose medical license was revoked is accused of illegally recording people while employed.

Seacoastonline.com reports 43-year-old Loretta Obi, of Chappaqua, New York, was indicted in Rockingham County. She’s accused of recording at least one person without consent inside Exeter Hospital between Dec. 22, 2017, and Jan. 1. She was a temporary physician for nine days.

The New Hampshire Board of Medicine revoked her license in October due to her “repeated failure to cooperate” with requests for communication.

Obi filed a federal lawsuit in June against Exeter Health Resources Inc., Core Physicians, Barton Associates Inc. and the board, alleging breach of contract and destruction of reputation. She’s representing herself. Hospital lawyers argued Obi showed a lack of respect for patients’ privacy.

Obi’s phone rang unanswered Wednesday.
