Migrants of the caravan march to the San Yisdro Port of Entry

More than 1,000 migrants rushed to the U.S.-Mexico border in Tijuana Sunday morning, but what was supposed to be a peaceful march quickly took a turn.

Border Patrol agents used tear gas to stop migrants from crossing through the pedestrian walkway entry that was about 100 yards from the border fence.

Carlos Moreno, who left his country of Honduras because of gang violence, was among the thousands who marched that morning.

“We all spoke together and came to the conclusion that we will march peacefully at 9 a.m. without any violence because if we want something to happen, violence is not the answer. We will march to the bridge to see if Donald Trump can do something for us because we need his support,” said Moreno.

He also added that everyone has one dream which is to reach the United States to begin working.

“What we want is to work. Each one of our dreams is to reach the United States, we have walked through of Mexico from one point to the other and we have made it to where we wanted to be. So we’re taking it to the bridge,” said Moreno.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, there are about 42 migrants who were arrested. Dozens of media outlets have reported that there have been anywhere from 36 to 98 of those individuals that have been deported and sent back to their countries.
