Border Patrol arrest gang member with drug convictions

Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted drug offender Tuesday morning.

It happened around 1:02 a.m., just east of the Calexico Port of Entry.

El Centro Sector Border Patrol said agents were patrolling the border when they found a 41-year-old Mexican citizen in the country illegally.

After being processed at the El Centro station, agents found the man was arrested in 2011 for possession with intent to sell methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 72 months in prison.

Records also show the man is an active member of the “Vatos Locos” street gang.

He is being held in custody pending criminal charges.
