Yuma Police: Man arrested after luring 13-year-old girl for sex in Yuma

Yuma police said Matthew Sanchez, 30, was arrested after allegedly luring a 13-year-old girl for a sexual encounter Sunday night.

YPD said Sanchez arrived at the Loves Truck Stop, located at 2931 E. Gila Ridge Road, where he was met by a member of “Truckers Against Predators” instead of the minor.

YPD said the confrontation was recorded by the group and streamed via Facebook Live.

Sanchez left the Love’s Truck Stop, went to his residence and called 911 to turn himself in.

He was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for a ggravated luring minor for sexual exploitation, f urnishing harmful items to minors and luring minor for sexual exploitation.

During Monday’s court appearance, Sanchez was in custody and stood before Judge Gregory Stewart.

The judge said a prosecutor has two days to review the police report before deciding to file felony charges.

Meantime, Sanchez was ordered not to engage on social media and established a secured bond of $100,000.

Sanchez’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, November 21.
