At least six Arizona fire departments are sending crews to help fight massive and deadly wildfires in northern and southern California.

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management says about 144 firefighters and 42 engines have either arrived or are heading to California to send supplies and battle the flames.

Department officials say the firefighters are on a minimum 14-day assignment with the majority of them going to Southern California.

Scottsdale Fire Department crews are headed to fight the fire near the border of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
