Sparkle Night event kicks off Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign Kick Off

The Yuma Palms shopping center will shine a bit brighter Saturday evening for the Sparkle Night event.

This event is to celebrate the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign Kick-Off .

According to the Salvation Army’s website, the Red Kettle tradition began in 1901.

“In 1901, kettle contributions in New York City provided funds for the first mammoth sit-down dinner in Madison Square Garden, a custom that continued for many years. Today in the U.S., The Salvation Army assists more than four-and-a-half million people during the Thanksgiving and Christmas time periods.”

Beginning at 3:00 P.M., community members can experience live dance performances by local dance troupes, a bounce house, chalk festival, and Christmas tree lighting at dusk.
