Governor Ducey to serve another term
Governor Ducey will continue his role in leading the state of Arizona until 2022.
Incumbent Governor Doug Ducey and Democrat David Garcia were both eyeing to be the Governor of Arizona.
Garcia ran a campaign focused mainly on public education. He explained if he didn’t win the race, his message to everyone would be to continue the fight for public education.
Governor Ducey said that he would deal with the results as the voters determine before the results rolled in.
“I want to secure Arizona’s future economically. I want to make our schools and our neighborhoods safer. I want to have the border safer. I don’t want anyone to forget four years ago our budget was broken. Our education system was layered in lawsuits and our economy was flat. Today that $1 billion budget deficit is a $1 billion surplus. The education lawsuits are behind us and our economy is booming. Its booming so much we were able to get our teachers a 20 percent pay increase by school year 2020,” said Governor Ducey.
Ducey continued to explain his plans for education.
“We are going to prioritize the teacher pay increase and make sure that it is completed, get more money into K-12 education over and above inflation every year I am governor. I will veto any budget that does not do that of the money we get into education and have more of those dollars going into the classroom. We’re going to bring the Arizona teacher academy to life to end this teacher shortage we have in the country,” said Governor Ducey.
