Ask Yuma: Predictions for the midterm election

With the Midterm Election on Tuesday, 13 on Your Side hit the streets to ask Yuma residents for their predictions in what they would like to see, a blue wave or a red wave?

“I was born and raised Democrat, but Democrats in this country are now totally crooked,” said Bernie Narris. Narris is a Yuma resident who believes Democrats ‘buy’ people off and are not doing good for the Trump Administration.

“Republicans are actually trying to help people,” Narris added.

For Tara, she has a different view on the outcome.

“Blue wave baby, I think this country is becoming weird and fundamentalist and horrible and I think we need to be progressive and not run from it.”

Paul Jackson believes it could be a win for both Republicans and Democrats overall.

“It looks like Republicans are going to maintain control of the Senate, but hopefully we [Democrats] will take the house.”

And for some voters, they still feel undecided and a sense of abandonment. A voter who wished to remain anonymous said he doesn’t have an opinion in how he would like the results to be.

“I don’t really have any thoughts because they’re going to do what they want anyway.”

Arizona is also one of the tightest races for the United States Senate seat, with voters deciding between the Republican Candidate Martha McSally and Democratic Candidate Kyrsten Sinema.

“Hopefully a wave of Democrats”, said Greg. A voter who believes McSally and the Trump administration is using ‘scare tactics’ to push their agenda moving forward. “Instead of McSally going on of her list of accomplishments, she’s trying to scare us out of Sinema, and again a ‘wrong tactic’. Sinema is much more of what Arizona needs.”

Narris believes otherwise, saying Martha Mc Sally is more of a right choice for Arizona because she’s Republican and has the President’s support.

What is your prediction for the Midterm Election and who would you like to win the Arizona Senate seat?
