United Way of Yuma County receives donation

United Way of Yuma County received a very generous donation of $25,000 to the EyeSpy 20/20 program in efforts to continue to help advance the common good for several children in Yuma County.

It was announced today by the Arizona Community Foundation of Yuma

The EyeSpy 20/20 has already screened nearly 8,000 children in Yuma County and in the 2018-2019 school years, it will allow more children to be screened for potential vision problems.

Early detection leads to early intervention to correct possible future issues even blindness that can occur. Now, with this donation from ACF, United Way of Yuma County can bring the vision screening down to Somerton, Gadsden and San Luis school children.

About 25% of children who have been screened failed their vision screening.

Every dollar helps children who have undetected vision problems or would not have access to vision screening or glasses.
