Local foundation hopes to plant seed for local private foundation

The Alliance Healthcare Foundation held a workshop in Imperial County in hopes of starting a new private foundation that meets the medical needs of Imperial Valley residents.

By having their own private foundation, non-profit organizations from the valley would benefit from the funds and use them while not depending on outside sources. One consultant said it’s vital that local agencies have a say in how the funds will be used.

Greg Hall, an Alliance Healthcare Foundations Consultant said, “We want this to really be community-led. Community-inspired. And so that’s part of what today’s dialogue will be about.”

The Alliance Healthcare Foundation hopes to put a coalition together and start raising funds within the next 18 months.
