Semi rolls over at 16th Street

A semi-truck hauling 45,000 pounds of bananas rolled over at the intersection of 16th Street and 4th Avenue Thursday afternoon.

The Yuma Police Department said the eastbound lane of 16th Street is currently shut down at 4th Avenue due to a semi-truck that rolled to its side. The semi-truck was heading southbound on 4th Avenue, attempted to turn left on 16th Street, and lost control.

Witnesses said the driver turned quickly at the intersection. News 11 spoke to authorities who said speed could have been a factor.

There were no reported injuries.
