Imperial Valley Film Festival showcases local filmmakers and artists

It’s lights, camera, action this weekend for the 8th annual Imperial Valley Film festival starting this Friday night. With 11 shorts films and workshops on acting and costume design, the film festival looks to draw in film lovers in the valley.

Residents will have the chance to watch actors from the valley who are working in the film industry today as well as movies that were shot on location in Imperial County.

With the support from valley residents, the Imperial Valley Film Commission hopes the festival will inspire local filmmakers and artists to pursue their dreams on the big screen. Imperial County Film Consultant, Charla Stewart said, “Well we hope that everybody will come out and support our local filmmakers as well as our international and national filmmakers. Because we’re really here to give them an audience for their short films and give them a chance to have their passion on the screen and for everybody to enjoy it.”

The Imperial Film Festival opens this Friday night and closes on Saturday at the Cinemark movie theatre in the Imperial Valley Mall.
