$100K worth of meth seized by CBP officers

A Mexican national attempting to smuggle methamphetamine into the United States was arrested at the Port of Nogales Thursday.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said a 29-year-old man was referred for further inspection of his Volkswagen sedan Thursday morning. After being alerted by a CBP narcotics detection canine, officers discovered more than 33 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle’s roof. The drugs are worth almost $100,000, CBP officials said.

Officers confiscated the drugs and vehicle. The man was arrested and then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
