Tuesday is the last day to register to vote

Tuesday is the voter registration deadline for the primary elections in Arizona on November 6.

The Yuma County Recorder’s Office is hoping to provide help and resources for anyone who has yet to register.

As of last week, a whopping 800,000 people nationwide have registered to vote which is 30,000 more than in 2016.

According to Chief Deputy Recorder Nohyra Madsen, this may be because of the growth in interest of getting involved in the voting process to make sure your vote is counted.

In addition, engaging social media platforms, as well as online formats, make it easier ways to register.

According to Madsen, there are currently about 85,000 current active registered voters in Yuma.

The recorder’s office in downtown Yuma, located at 197 South Main Street, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to provide assistance in registering.

You can either come into the office to fill out the form, or you can go to servicearizona.com and the Recorder’s office will receive it within 24 hours.

Voters are strongly encouraged to only use the ServiceArizona.com website because it is a state website which makes it more reliable.

Madsen said that it is important to register to vote in order to let your voice be heard in state, federal, and local elections.

The recorder’s office is also urging voters to make sure that their voting addresses are current.

This is because election materials such as early ballot request forms, early ballots, and sample ballots cannot be forwarded.

If you are registering to vote for the first time or making any changes to your address, you will need to complete a new form.

If you have any further questions, you can call the voter registration office at (928) 373-6034.
