Local reaction after weekend rainfall

Residents along with areas throughout Yuma this weekend felt the powerful winds and torrential down poor from tropical storm Rosa that left parts of the town with nearly two inches of rain according to the National Weather Service.

“Bring it on, we need it, we need it bad,’ said one local resident from Yuma.

Certain parts of Yuma were subject to major flooding causing several streets to be blocked off in the area of 27th Street and Virginia Drive Sunday afternoon.

Paige Limbaugh is concerned for how her children will get to school this week.

“It’s going to be a mess,” Limbaugh said. “Unless somehow all of this is gone, I don’t even know how they are going to get across the street.”

The National Weather Service predicts two to three more inches of rain over the next couple of days.

“It doesn’t happen very often so I really like to enjoy the weather,” said one local resident. “It’s always hot here in Yuma so whenever it rains I feel like it’s a different town.”
