NWS issues flash flood watch in Yuma and Imperial counties

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a flash flood watch for portions of Arizona and California that include Yuma County and Imperial County.

The flash flood watch will be in effect from Monday morning through late Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Moisture from the remains of Hurricane Rosa will lead to widespread moderate to heavy rain at times over Arizona and southeast California Monday through Tuesday night.

There is good potential for excessive rainfall to cause localized flash flooding. Locations in the watch area that are most likely to experience flash flooding will be normally dry washes near higher terrain.

A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding of washes, creeks and other drainage areas is possible within the watch area. If you are in the watch area, you should watch the weather and be prepared to take immediate action should heavy rain and flooding occur or a flash flood warning is issued.
