Yuma newborn facing rare heart condition

One Yuma newborn is facing a rare heart condition that will lead her into surgery in the coming months.

Baby Juliette Delgado was born on August 6 and two days later, she was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return, according to Juliette’s father, Jonathan Delgado.

After doctors ran tests, they airlifted Juliette to Phoenix Children’s Hospital where she stayed for a few days.

“My heart just sank honestly. It was really scary for me. Then seeing my wife and everybody in the room also. My family was there when we got the news and everything. It was tough. It was really tough. Then seeing my daughter in the NICU, connected with everything. It’s just, it hurt. It hurt a lot,” explained Delgado.

Delgado said that he was not able to fly with his newest addition, but drove to meet her in Phoenix.

Baby Juliette is now in the care of her parents in Yuma awaiting a surgery to treat the condition.

Her family is putting on a fundraiser show to help with the costs associated with treating baby Juliette on October 6 at Hot Rods & Beer in Yuma.
