Middle school student allegedly threatens to shoot up school

A 13-year-old Fourth Avenue Jr. High School student allegedly made verbal threats to “shoot up” the school Wednesday afternoon, according to the Yuma Police Department.

YPD said they received information from students of an alleged school shooting at Fourth Avenue Jr. High School at around 3:44 p.m. Wednesday. Students stated an unidentified student made threats to shoot up the school Thursday.

Authorities identified the suspect as a 13-year-old boy who attends the middle school. The threat was determined to not be legitimate. The Yuma County Attorney’s Office will be reviewing the case to determine if charges will be made.
