Hidden pantry and library helping locals in Yuma

The Yuma Center for Spiritual Living is letting the community know about their mini library and pantry available to those in need in the community.

Carolyn Bennett is a practitioner at the center and believes this pantry is needed, especially during the summer here in Yuma.

“I think the food is probably the most important thing for people who are accessing it. It is empty every day and it’s not like it’s large and there’s a lot of food but we know we are feeding people and of course it’s a stop gap. It’s not the food bank and it’s not Crossroad Mission where they can feed people and they do daily, certainly a lot of people in the community, but we see that there is a need because our pantry is emptied every day,” said Bennett.

Bennett says they try and stock the pantry with food that is easily accessible.

“What we stock are like power bars, so there’s protein and juices and water of course and canned food that can be opened easily. We have a can opener out there with little pop tops of soups, chili or things like that. Things that are easy to eat and it doesn’t’t matter that they are warm because it’s summer and it does get hot out there,” said Bennett.

The center accepts donations and is looking forward to work they will do in the future.
